The Vandalia Swimming Pool will open for the season this week on Friday, May 28, weather permitting, from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
Admission is $4.50 per person for the afternoon hours and $2.25 for the evening sessions. Those under two years of age are free.
The hours, depending on number of swimmers and weather conditions are 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday through Friday, with hours on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. only. There will also be free swimming for all ages beginning Wednesday morning, June 9 from 9 to 11 a.m. These free morning swims will run through August 11.
To open, at least 10 people must be available by the first half hour of the scheduled times.
Seasonal and family passes are available at the same price for this season.
The pool will hold a moonlight madness swim once a month from 6 – 11:30 p.m. Dates will be on Fridays, June 25, July 23 and August 13.
Teen nights, for those 13-18 years old, will be held from 8 – 10:30 p.m., on June 7, July 5, and August 2. Adult’s nights for those 19 and over will be on June 11, July 9, and August 2, from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Family and Church group nights are scheduled for Wednesdays, on June 16, July 21 and August 6, from 6 – 8 p.m.
There will be an extra charge for each of the special sessions.
Swimming lesson will also be held at the pool this year. Children must be at least four years old. Classes will be held from 10 to 10:50 a.m. and 11 to 11:50 a.m., Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, July 5-30, with registration for the classes running from June 1 – 26, or until classes are full. Fees are due at the time of registration, and is done in person only, during regular hours.
Parent Tot classes will also be held for children from 6 months to three years old July 19-30, Monday through Friday, from noon to 12:30 p.m., with registration from June 21 – July 13.
Lifeguard and junior lifeguard trainings will be held as well during June. Lifeguard training registration is May 24 – June 3, and junior training registration is June 1-16.
Also to be offered again this year is Water Aerobics through the YMCA, from July 6 through August 26, Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 – 6 p.m.
Any type of undesireable behavior will not be allowed at the pool, and could meet with a peson being banned from the pool for the season. Those under seven years of age must be accompanied by someone 13 years of age or older.
