The Fourth Annual Vandalia Kite Festival will be held from noon until 4 p.m., Saturday, April 24, at Kaskaskia College, 2310 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia.
Most of the activities are free, and there is no cost for admission.
Those attending are invited to bring their own kites to fly, however free kites will be available until they are all gone, supplied by co-sponsor Clint Simpson, State Farm Insurance.
Simpson says that he will be flying his 49-inch King Cobra Kite this year as well. In addition to the free kites, there will be a hoola hoop contest for girls scout cookies as well, at the State Farm tent. A 60-foot obstacle course will also be available for children, along with potato sack races.
A petting zoo will also be around, along with face painting, hair tinsel’s, Second Chance Animal Rescue, TV raffle, along with many other games, activities, and give aways. There will also be a variety of vendors displaying their wares at the event.
Any business or individuals who would like to set up a spot are invited to participate at no cost, but they should call to reserve their spot at 618.283.0951.
