Wanda C. McCollum, 90, of Vandalia, passed away Sunday, April 18, 2021, in Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 21, at First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, with Pastor Tom Goodell officiating. Burial will follow at Fairlawn Cemetery Vandalia. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, April 20, at Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, and one hour before service Wednesday at the church. Memorials: Fayette Co. Cancer Fund. Wanda was born November 8, 1930, in Vandalia, the daughter of Charles and Ruth (Graves) Denton. She married L. Dale McCollum on December 8, 1954, Vandalia. Dale passed away Oct. 13, 1999 they had been married 2 months shy of 55 years, both battling lung cancer. Wanda was one of the youngest to graduate from the Vandalia High School at the age of 16. She was a Retired Beautician. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the church’s fellowship cook committee, the American Legion Auxiliary, both of Vandalia, USBC Bowling Association and Melrose Chapter 243 O.E.S. She is survived by a son, Mike McCollum & Penny, Effingham; daughter, Cindy Bennett and Bill, Vandalia: grandchildren, Mindy and Steve Boswell and Cody McCollum and Alexandra, all of Effingham; Brittney and David Crye, Vandalia, and great-grandchild, Brinley Boswell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin brothers and an infant brother.
