The annual Lincoln Dinner, hosted by the Fayette Republican Central Committee has been postponed this year.
“It is with great disappointment that we are announcing the postponement of this month Lincoln Day Dinner. We are planning to hold an outdoor event later this spring/summer,” a statement proclaimed on the party’s website.
“Please know that this decision was made with much thoughtful deliberation. While COVID numbers are down, we are still concerned about the logistics and safety of holding a fundraiser at this time.
“We are proud of the work that our elected officials and the Fayette County Health Department have done to balance respect for the lives of all in our communities and support for small businesses, and we want to see that continue…. We also wish to respect everyone’s health and safety.”
The statement went on to express that by postponing this event, the committee is prioritizing health and our communities’ continuing economic recovery over fundraising, and it is looking forward to celebrating our continued success within our county and making some mid-term election announcements this summer.
