South Central 7, Mulberry Grove 6
South Central held off Mulberry Grove to win the IESA Regional at Webster Field in Kinmundy on Saturday morning.
Mulberry Grove jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but South Central took the lead with five runs in the second inning.
Mulberry Grove scored a run in the third to make it 5-4, and the Lady Falcons scored single runs in the fourth and fifth innings to give them a 7-4 lead.
Mulberry Grove scored two runs in the sixth inning to cut the South Central lead to one, and had runners on second and third when a ground out ended the game.
Ella Watwood got the complete-game win, allowing nine hits and six runs, three earned, while striking out six and walking two.
Lily Johnson took the loss for Mulberry Grove, allowing four hits and three earned runs while striking out five and walking two in five innings of work.
Johnson pitched in relief of Lexie Kruep, who allowed three hits and four earned runs while giving up one walk in one-plus innings of work.
Watwood and Kinlee Thompson each had a triple, single and three RBI’s to lead South Central.
Lexi Caylor led Mulberry Grove with a 3-for-4 performance with three RBI’s while also scoring one run.

The Lady Falcons season came to an end with a 6-1 loss to Dieterich in the IESA Sectional on Tuesday.
South Central's season ended at 11-7.

The Lady Vandals saw their season end with a loss to Mattoon last Monday.
