Election 2020

Official vote by mail applications were mailed to all eligible registered voters of Fayette County as of Friday, per the Pursuant to Public Act 101-642, according to Fayette County Clerk and Recorder Jessica Barker.
Barker said that it has been brought to the Fayette County Clerk’s attention that there is a third-party mailer for vote by mail applications being sent to voters as well.
“This is not uncommon for political parties or special interest groups who have your mailing information to send these fliers to voters,” Barker said.
She said that her office would like to alleviate some voter confusion.
“You will know the application is from our office, as it will have the official election mail logo that is authorized by the U.S. Postal Service and Illinois State Board of Elections to only be on all election mailings that are sent from the county clerk’s office,” Barker said.
“Your name is already on the application as well as voter ID,” she said. “The third party forms have been sent blank.
“If you are considering voting by mail, please use our personalized application over the standard blank form from third party mailers.
“This will help expedite your ballot’s processing on Sept. 24,” she said.
“If you are not sure how you want to vote at this time, especially with COVID-19 concerns, keep the personalized application. It can be submitted up until Oct. 29.
“Remember, ballots cannot be mailed until Sept. 24,” she said.
