Tools for School is now under way

For its 20th year, the Tools for School program, which provides free basic school supplies to Fayette County students who need help, is under way.
Step one is to receive donations from generous individuals, churches, businesses, clubs and others. Gifts of money enable the purchase of exactly what the teachers indicate their students need.
Individuals, groups or business wishing to donate supplies can contact First Presbyterian Church at 283-0937 to see what is needed.
Last year, about 500 in-need young people from Brownstown, Ramsey, St. Elmo, South Central and Vandalia began their academic year with necessary school supplies from the Tools for School program.
Contributions may be sent to: Tools for School, 1221 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia, Ill. 62471.
This program is coordinated by the Mission Committee of the Vandalia First Presbyterian Church, co-chaired by Dian Butler and Joelyn Collins.
Tools for School 2020 is altering its procedures due to the pandemic to ensure the safety of our students, parents, and volunteers.
Details will be given at a later date.
