City tells local effect of Phase III

Considering the May 20 changes announced by Gov. JB Pritzker’s office, the city of Vandalia is preparing for the following reopening activities on May 29, in keeping with Phase 3 of the plan:
First, restaurants and bars can allow outdoor seating under the plan.
In order to provide additional assistance, liquor license holders within the city of Vandalia will be allowed temporarily to serve customers at outdoor tables under the supervision of the liquor commissioner, Mayor Rick Gottman.
Second, boating and camping will return at Vandalia Lake, under the Phase 3 guidelines as the Department of Public Health issues guidelines, which provide at this time for gatherings of up to 10 people, as long as social distancing is observed or face coverings are used in instances when distancing is not possible.
Finally, retailers are able to reopen their doors to customers while following the distancing and face-covering guidelines along with personal care services who observe Department of Public Health guidelines.
The city of Vandalia is committed to closely monitoring the reopening during these changes and ensuring both safety and economic and recreational activity during this time.
The city of Vandalia anticipates changes continuing to these plans and encourage residents to monitor the information published by both the state and local department of public health for the most up to date information.
