2020 Grande Levée canceled

VANDALIA, Ill.-The Vandalia Grande Levee scheduled for June 19-20 at the Vandalia Statehouse
State Historic Site has been canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The annual Grande Levee is a free family event reminiscent of the receptions held during the 1800s to
honor government dignitaries and important visitors at the Vandalia Statehouse, located at 315 W.
Gallatin St. in Vandalia.
Organizers expect to renew the Grande Levee in 2021. The event is co-sponsored by the Old Capitol
Foundation, Vandalia Tourism Commission and Looking for Lincoln.
The Vandalia Statehouse State Historic Site remains closed at this time. The Illinois Department of
Natural Resources will continue to work with the Governor's Office and the Illinois Department of
Public Health to determine which state sites can reopen safely for public use.
