Bicentennial street closings

Some Vandalia downtown streets will be closed during periods of Vandalia’s Bicentennial Celebration:
• Gallatin Street from Third Street to Sixth Street – Friday at 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Gallatin from Eighth Street to Sixth Street will be closed from 2 p.m. until the end of the celebration parade.
• Johnson Street – Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. The city parking lot will be open for parking only.
• Fourth Street, from Gallatin Street to Johnson Street – Saturday from 8 a.m. until 11:30 p.m.
Also, the parking lot for First National Bank employees will be closed as of 6 p.m. on Friday. The bank will be hosting a Bouncing Block Party from 3-7 p.m. at that location.
To prepare for the event, the bank’s customer lot behind the main bank will be closed on Saturday morning. The drive-up lanes will be open until noon, with customers exiting through the alley to the south.
