VJHS falls to T-Town, Salem

Teutopolis scored two runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh to defeat Vandalia, 5-2, in junior high baseball last Thursday.

T-Town scored once in the first inning and once in the third to lead 2-0, then Vandalia scored its first run in the bottom of the fifth and responded to Teutopolis’ two runs in the sixth with a single run.
Matthew Hagy took the loss for Vandalia, giving up four runs on eight hits while striking out six and walking two in five innings of work. Owen Miller allowed one run and one walk, striking out two, in two innings.

Salem scored 16 runs on 17 hits and took advantage of seven Vandalia Junior High errors in a 16-3 win last Wednesday in Vandalia.
Salem and Vandalia were tied at 1 after one inning, but Salem scored four runs in the second and third innings, three times in the fourth and four more times in the fifth.
Reid Well took the loss, giving up five runs (3 earned), while striking out one and walking one in two innings of work. Dalton White gave up 11 runs (10 earned) and 12 hits, walking one, in two innings, and Preston Nestrick struck out one and walked one in one inning on the mound.

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, Matthew Hagy tossed a no-hitter and Chase McNary went 4-for-4 as the Vandals defeated Pana, 16-6, at Pana.
The Vandals tallied five runs in the second, three in the third, two in the fourth, five in the fifth and one in the sixth, pounding out 15 hits.
Hagy struck out six and walked just one batter in three innings to pick up the win. Andrew Kelly allowed six runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one in three innings.
