JH Vandals edged in opener, top Teutopolis

The Vandalia Junior High School baseball squad evened their record in the young season to 1-1 by blanking Teutopolis on Tuesday, 8-0.
The Vandals scored a run in the opening inning, added five more in the second and closed out their scoring with two runs in the fifth inning.
Owen Miller led Vandalia offensively by going 3-for-4 with two runs batted in, and Reid Well and Aiden Politte also drove in a couple of runs.
Politte picked up the win, allowing just one hit, striking out two and walking three over four innings. Cayden Hipsher pitched the final three innings, giving up four hits, striking out four and walking three batters.

St. Anthony 4, Vandalia 3
The Vandalia Junior High School Vandals baseball team was edged by Effingham St. Anthony, 4-3, in their season opener on Saturday.
The game was knotted at 2-2 after six innings, and St. Anthony outscored the Vandals 2-1 in the final inning to pick up the win.
Reid Well, Owen Miller and Dalton White each had two hits for the Vandals, with Miller hits including a double.
Well took the loss in relief, giving up three runs (two earned) and five hits while striking three and walking three over five innings.
Matthew Hagy gave up one hit and one run, struck out three and walked four in the first two innings. Hagy had a stolen base.
