Shulman, Dunn fail to advance to state golf tournament

Two Vandalia golfers who competed in the IHSA Sectional Tournament were unable to advance to the state competition.
Scott Shulman shot an 84 at Governors Run in Carlyle, three strokes off of the top 10 advancing to the state golf tournament.
Bryce Dunn shot an 84 at Carlyle on Tuesday.
Nathaniel Weaver also qualified for the sectional tournament, but was unable to compete because he was performing at the IMEA music competition in Effingham.
Austyn Downen, a McLeansboro junior, was the sectional medalist with an 74.
In addition to the top 10 individuals, moving on to state are the top three team finishers.
Mt. Carmel was the team medalist with a 310 total. Also qualifying were Hillsboro, 320, and Effingham St. Anthony (326).
