Three Vandal golfers advance to sectional

Three Vandalia golfers advanced to the IHSA Sectional Tournament on Tuesday at Fox Prairie Golf Course in Windsor.

Finishing in the top 10 other than the teams qualifying for the sectional were Scott Shulman (81), Nathaniel Weaver (89) and Bryce Dunn (95).
Hillsboro won the regional easily with a 306 total, 26 strokes better than second-place Litchfield.
Vandalia finished in fifth place with a 374 total, and Ramsey was eighth with 407 team score.
Alex Eickhoff of Hillsboro was the regional medalist with a 73, two better than teammate Alex White and Alex Bishop of Litchfield. Tyler Freeman of Christ Our Rock Lutheran shot a 76, and Tony Perfetti was fifth with a 78.
Top scores outside the team qualifiers were: Freeman; Shulman; Will Leach of Shelbyville (84); Noah Robinson of Carrollton (86); Weaver; Nathan Ellis of CORL (89); Austin Rushton of Staunton and Mark Grigeroff of Ramsey (90); and Dunn and  Riley Thompson of Sandoval (91).
Last Thursday, the VCHS golfers defeated Pana, 182-224, in a dual match at Vandalia Country and Golf Club, raising their season record to 11-7.
Shulman was medalist with a 43. Other scores: Weaver, 45; Dunn, 45; Zach McCaslin, 49.
