St. Elmo Legion planning different type of golf outing

St. Elmo American Legion Post No. 420 is holding a different type of golf outing this fall.
On Aug. 12, MBI Concrete will fly over the Fore-Way Challenge Golf and Driving Range at Lake Sara and dump a laundry basket or other type of container full of numbered golf balls. Four of those will be winning golf balls.
The person with the ball closest to the pin will win $5,000, the second-closest wins $2,500, third place is $1,500 and fourth is $1,000.
The Legion post is selling 1,000 numbered golf balls for $20 each.
Numbered balls may be purchased at Austin Parts, Heckert Lawn Center and St. Elmo Golf Club, and also from Legion members.
The Legion post will have a booth at the Fayette County Fair and the thresherman’s show in Altamont, and possibly at the Effingham County Fair.
