Woodlawn scored twice in the fifth inning of the IHSA Regional contest at Brownstown to record a 5-3 win over Brownstown/St. Elmo to end the Bombers season.
The Bombers scored one run in each of the first two innings and tied the game at three in the bottom of the fourth before Woodlawn crossed the plate twice in the fifth.
Nate Philpot led the Bombers by going 2-for-4 with two runs batted in.
Isaac Maxey, Lewis Brown, Caleb Atwood and Hunter Strauch each had one hit.
Brown took the loss, giving up five runs on four hits while striking out 10 and walking six.
On Friday, the Bombers scored nine times in the seventh inning to defeat Ramsey, 15-7, at Ramsey.
Jeffrey Kelly got the win in 1 2/3 innings of relief, striking out three, walking one and allowing two runs on two hits.
Nate Philpot was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI’s, and Bryton Pruett was 2-for-3 with a double 3 RBI’s.
Lewis Brown had a double and two RBI’s.
Wade Ireland was 2-for-2 and Kelly was 1-for-3.
South Central lost to Newton, 13-3, on Monday in a home contest.
Newton banged out 16 hits while holding the Cougars to just three, a home run by Trent Geiler, a double by Trevor Markley and a single by Ryan Matheny.
Hunter Brandt took the loss, giving up seven runs on nine hits while striking out two and walking two.
South Central edged Dieterich, 3-2, scoring twice in the seventh inning to take the win.
Markley, Geiler, Matheny and Ryan McCown had the Cougars four hits, all singles. Geiler, Davis and McCown had the team’s three RBI’s.
Geiler got the win in relief, allowing six hits while striking out and walking two. Matheny allowed two runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one.
