KC Vandalia KICK programs

The Office of Continuing/Community Education at Kaskaskia College has announced the schedule for KICK classes to be held in June at the Vandalia Campus located at 2310 W. Fillmore Street in Vandalia.
Babysitting – Kids ages 13 and up will learn basic CPR and first aid, practical skills from changing diapers to small meal preparation and fun games to keep those little ones entertained.
At the end of this course, you will leave with your own babysitting kit and everything you need to be a great sitter.
This class will be held Monday, June 12, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., and the cost of the class is $20. The registration number is CKICK 5023 VA01D.
Tennis for Kids – After completing the class, participants will know how to swing, serve, return and volley using correct form, as well as understand the rules, scoring and etiquette of the game.
Besides skills, a variety of fun games that can be played on the tennis court will be taught. This class will be held Monday through Thursday, June 12-14, from 9-11 a.m., for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
This class will be held at the Vandalia Community High School tennis courts and all students should bring a tennis racket to class. Cost is $20, and the registration number is CKICK 5055 VA01D.
Beginning Digital Photography – This course will give basic instruction in taking digital pictures, downloading them into a computer, adding photos to e-mail or documents, setting up photo albums on the computer and more basics of digital photography.
Computer experience is required for this class and students are reminded to bring their camera.
This class will be held Tuesday and Thursday, June 13 and 15, from 9-11 a.m., for students in fifth grade and up. Cost is $15, and the registration number is CKICK 5200 VA01D.
Gardening for Kids – Fayette County Master Gardeners will offer a children’s hands-on learning experience promoting a love for gardening and the environment.
Weather permitting, this class will be held at Vandalia’s Little Community Garden on June 14, from 9-11 a.m. Rain date is June 28, at the same time.
Children in kindergarten through fifth grade may register. Old clothes/shoes should be worn (boots preferred). Cost is $5, and the registration number is CKICK 5004 VA01D.
Pet Care – In this class, students will learn how to properly care for their pets. Class time will include how to feed pets, techniques for handling pets, and the proper way to wash them. Students do not need to be a pet owner to attend.
This class will be held Wednesday, June 14, from 1-2:30 p.m., for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Cost is $5, and the registration number is CKICK 5308 VA01D.
All About Birds – Do you like to bird watch or want to learn more about them
 In this class, students will find out many interesting facts about birds such as the largest, smallest and fastest birds, how scientists believe they evolved, how many different species there are and much more.
This class will be held Thursday, June 15, from 1:30- 3:30 p.m., for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Cost is $5, and the registration number is CKICK 5008 VA01D.
Wilderness Survival – Students will learn basic survival techniques including what to pack in a survival kit, how to find cardinal directions when in the woods and how to start a fire using water.
This class will be held Monday, June 19, from 10:00 a.m.-noon, for students in grades 4-8. Cost of is $5, and the registration number is CKICK 5019 VA01D.
Drawing – This class will work with students to develop skills and techniques that make drawing fun.
Students will be led through an exploration of basic drawing principles, and will experiment with different ideas.
This class will be held Tuesday and Thursday, June 20 and 22, from 10:00 a.m.-noon, for students in grades 1-8. Cost is $10, and the registration number is CKICK-5171-VA01D
Kids & Computers ­– This class offers basic instructions and tips on improving computer skills.
Students will learn how to produce great papers and presentations. The class will be held Tuesday through Thursday, June 20-22, from 1-3 p.m., for students in grades 3-8. Cost is $20, and the registration number is CKICK 5285 VA01D.
Balloon Art – In this class, students will learn to make balloon animals. Come and learn about balloon safety, twisting cool creatures, hats and more.
This class will be held Wednesday, June 21, from 9:30-11 a.m., for students in grades 3-5. Cost is $5, and the registration number is CKICK 5020 VA01D.
Beginning Guitar for Kids – This beginning guitar class will teach students about cords, read music and play simple songs. Bring your own guitar to class.
This class will be held Wednesday afternoons, June 21 and 28, and July 5, 12, 19, and 26, from 1-2:30 p.m., for students in grades 5-8. Cost is $40 and the registration number is CKICK 5007 VA01D.
Animal Tracking – In this class, students will learn to identify wild animals by their tracks and signs.
This class will be held Monday, June 26, from 10:00 a.m.-noon, for students in grades 4-8. Cost is $5, and the registration number is CKICK 5021 VA01D.
Beginning Sign Language – Through teacher-student application and demonstrations, students will learn basic sign language including numbers, alphabet, basic words and phrases.
This class will be held Monday and Wednesday, June 26 and 28, from 1:30-3:30 p.m., for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Cost is $15, and the registration number is  CKICK 5160 VA01D.
Tie Dying – Bring your own T-shirt and make a tie dye shirt you will love to wear. Learn how to fold and pleat your shirt to separate colors and make fun patterns.
This class will be held Tuesday and Thursday, June 27 and 29. Class on Tuesday will be held from 1-3:30 p.m. and on Thursday from 1-3 p.m.
This class is for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Cost is $15, and the registration number is CKICK 5210 VA01D.
Music Fun – Students will explore the world of music through their voices, movement and a variety of instruments. This class will be held Wednesday, June 28, from 10-11:30 a.m., for students in kindergarten through third grade. Cost is $5, and the registration number is CKICK 5281 VA01D.
Fireworks Painting – Students will learn to make firework painting for the summer holidays using pipe cleaners, tempera paint and glitter.
These sparkly paintings will light up your room and look just like fireworks for July 4.
This class will be held Thursday, June 29, from 9:30-11 a.m. for students in kindergarten through fourth grade. Cost is $5, and the registration number is CKICK 5280 VA01D
