Two more VCHS track records fall Tuesday

Two more records fell as the Vandalia boys and girls track teams hosted a five-team meet on Tuesday.

Trevor Smalls eclipsed the long jump record he set recently with a jump of 21 feet, 3¼ inches, and the boys 4×200 relay team of Devon Little, Dylan Garrett, Blake Barth and Smalls broke a record they set just a week ago with a converted fully automatic time of 1:34.65.
The meet also marked the return of the reigning state champion in the pole vault, Curtis Gordon, who has been recovering from a hamstring injury. Gordon won the pole vault with 14-foot vault.
Vandalia won the boys meet with 117 points, followed by Cumberland (114), Teutopolis (53), Neoga (49) and Windsor/Stew-Stras (40).
Teutopolis won the girls meet with 121 points, followed by Vandalia (86), Neoga (73.5), Cumberland (49) and WSS (42.5).

Thirds – Cameron Withers, pole vault, 12 feet, 6 inches; and Justin Doolin, 200-meter dash, 24.88.
Fourths – Rivera, high jump, 5 feet, 4 inches, and 200-meter dash, 25.56; Daniel Durbin-Flack, discus, 97 feet, 2 inches; Doolin, 100-meter dash, 12.29; and 4×800 relay of Kaelyb Worker, Chandler Sasse, Robert Dothager and Braden Eveans, 10:12.60.
Fifths – Gavin Davis, high jump, 5 feet, 2 inches; Matthew Hobler, 400-meter dash, 1:00.10; and Worker, 1,600-meter run, 5:23.92.
GIRLS
Firsts – Anna Miller, 100-meter hurdles, 16.31, and 300-meter hurdles, 49.27; Katie Tarkington, 100-meter dash, 13.26; Madison Klanke, 200-meter dash, 27.98; Emma Warner, pole vault, 10 feet; and 4×100 relay of Miller, Madeline Cade, Klanke and Tarkington, 51.86.

Thirds – Karsyn Garrison, triple jump, 30 feet, 1.25 inches; Katey Wilkerson, shot put, 30 feet, 4.25 feet; Klanke, 100-meter dash, 13.67; and Olivia Marquardt, 800-meter run, 2:48.70, and 1,600-meter run, 6:20.19.
Fourths – Marquardt, discus, 81 feet; Abigail Miles, 400-meter dash, 1:11.88; Tarkington, 200-meter dash, 28.88; and 4×400 relay of Warner, Abby Forbes, Garrison and Miles, 5:55.00.
Fifths – Marquardt, pole vault, 7 feet, 6 inches; and Garrison, 13 feet, 2 inches.
The VCHS teams competed in the Comet Relays on Thursday at Greenville.
Boys – Pana, 114; Nashville, 99; Greenville, 76; Vandalia, 52; Staunton, 42; Hillsboro, 32; Breese Mater Dei, 14.
Girls – Nashville, 118; Pana, 77; Greenville, 64; Hillsboro, 50.5; Vandalia, 47; Breese Mater Dei, 40; and Staunton, 26.5.
BOYS
Firsts – Steele and Withers, combined height of 23 feet, 6 inches; and 4×200 relay of Little, Garrett, Barth and Smalls, 1:36.23.
Seconds – Smalls and Garrett, 37 feet, 5 inches; and 4×100 relay of Little, Garrett, Barth and Smalls, 45.92.
Fourth – Little and Garrett, hurdle relay, 36.86.
Fifths – Durbin-Flack and Nic Lutz, discus, 163 feet, 6 inches; and Davis and Rivera, high jump, 5 feet, 2 inches.
Sixths – 4×800 relay of Worker, Sasse, Dothager and Evans, 10:27.14; and throwers’ relay of Durbin-Flack, Sophie Whiten, Lutz and Miles, 58.69.
The VCHS boys won the South Central Conference Fresh Soph-Meet last Wednesday with 95 points, followed by Hillsboro (95) and Carlinville (74).
The girls placed seventh, with 38 points. Greenville won with 105 points, followed by Hillsboro (73), Carlinville (71), Piasa Southwestern (62), Roxana (51) and Litchfield (48).
BOYS
Firsts – Barth, 100-meter dash, 12.07; Steele, pole vault, 12 feet; Little, 110 hurdles, 16.61, and 300 hurdles, 45.83; 4×100 relay of Little, Rivera, Barth and Smalls, 47.03; and 4×200 relay of Little, Rivera, Barth and Smalls, 1:38.14.

Thirds – Rivera, 400-meter dash, 56.34; Davis (three-way tie due to same amount of misses), 5 feet, 4 inches.
Fifths – Durbin-Flack, discus, 99 feet, 8 inches; and 4×800 relay of Worker, Sasse, Josh Schilling and Evans, 10:32.51.
Sixth – Rivera, high jump, 5 feet, 4 inches.
GIRLS
