Friday, March 31

? The Brownstown HS Drama Club will be presenting the play, "10 Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse!," at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the high school gym. Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students; ages 4 and under are free.
? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a Fantastic Friday at 4 p.m. Children up to age 10 are invited to listen to stories and make homemade chalk. Registration is required; to register, call the library, 283-2824.
? Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 will hold bingo at the Legion Home. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and bingo begins at 7 p.m.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.

Saturday, April 1

? A Gift of Life breakfast benefit for Annaka Robison and Nancy Ervin will be held from 8-11 a.m. in the cafeteria at Brownstown Elementary School. It will include a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, sausage links and hash brown pattie; silent auction; 50/50 drawing; facepainting; and games. Free-will donations will be accepted. Nancy became Annaka's lifeguard on Jan. 3, when she underwent surgery to remove part of her liver to be used for a liver transplant for a 1-year-old girl with a rare condition – biliary atresia. Proceeds from the benefit will be used to help both families with expenses related to the two surgeries.
? The 56th annual Ramsey Lions Club Community Sale will be held in Lions Park, one block west of U.S. Route 51, beginning at 9 a.m. Items to be sold include used tractors and autos, farm machinery, antiques and lawn equipment. Assisted machinery unloading is available through Friday. Glass windows and doors, as well as cans with liquid cannot be sold. For more information, call 267-6012.

Monday, April 3

? The Vandalia Women of the Moose meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? Mothers of Fayette County Preschoolers meet at 6:30 p.m. at St. Elmo Public Library on U.S. Route 40. Mothers of children age newborn to kindergarten are invited. Childcare and snacks are provided.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.

Tuesday, April 4

ELECTION DAY – Polls open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary meets at noon in the conference room at the hospital.
? The Grandparents/Relatives Raising Children support group meets from 1-2 p.m. at Evans Public Library in Vandalia. The support group meets monthly and provides support, education and access to additional resources, including financial assistance. ? A Caregiver Connection seminar, "Top Ten Things for Caregivers to Start Doing Now," will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the conference room at Brookstone Estates, 1607 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia. Refreshments will be provided.
? The Fayette County Health Department's new grief support group meets from 6-7 p.m. at the health department, 416 W. Edwards St., Vandalia. For more information, contact hospice coordinator Jami Lockart at 283-7262.

Wednesday, April 5

? Evans Public Library will hold a story time at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are invited.
? The fourth Lenten Luncheon held by the Vandalia Ministerial Alliance is from noon-1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 127 S. Fourth St.
? The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce meets at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse. A luncheon is followed by a business meeting and program.
? Bingo is held at the Vandalia Moose Lodge, starting at 7 p.m., with Lightning at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 8

? The Fayette County Health Department is holding a 5K Bunny Run at 9 a.m., with the proceeds going to the Family YMCA of Fayette County's Strong Kids Program, which helps children in no-income and low-income families to participate in YMCA events and activities. All children age 12 and under participating in the Bunny Run will receive a medal. The registration cost is $20, with children age 5 and under free (unless a T-shirt is purchased). To register, contact Kelly Curll, Heather Jackson or Casey Carroll at the health department, 283-1044. Registration forms are available at the front desk of the health department, and are available on the FCHD website, www.fayettehealthdept.org.
? The third annual Run4Fun is being held at Wallace-Carroll Park in Herrick, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. and the race starting at 11 a.m. The fee is $20 for youths and $25 for adults. Forms may be picked up and dropped off at Tanglez Hair and Tanning Salon. Lunch will be provided after the run, free for participants and $5 for others. ? Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St. in Vandalia, will hold an Easter egg hunt for ages 2-10, with baskets provided, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. For more information, call 283-1970.
