Making winter much less painful

Even the small amount of snow we received last week could have made local travel somewhat trecherous. But, as usual, that was not the case, thanks to the city of Vandalia's commitment to clearing the streets in bad weather.
It's something that we've become accustomed to … and even expect. Yes, we're spoiled.
Less snow fell in a Christian County town north of us last week, and by the weekend, there was still a significant amount of snow on the streets. Much of what was gone had been removed by local traffic.
It's quite a commitment for the city and its workers, in the amount spent on overtime hours and the workers' many time staying on the job throughout the night.
We take it for granted, but it's still something for which we should continue to be thankful.
