Protz in state competition Jan. 19-22 in Springfield

Miss Fayette County Fair Queen 2016 Brandy Protz will compete at Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant.

The 58th annual Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant will take place at the IAAF Convention held Jan. 19-22 at Crowne Plaza in Springfield.
Protz will compete along with 71 other contestants from throughout the state.
Brandy is the 20-year-old daughter of Randy and Janel Protz, and Brenda Protz.
She is attending Indiana State University, pursuing a degree in athletic training-applied medicine and rehabilitation, with hopes of becoming a physician assistant in sports medicine or preventive medicine.
Instructions will be given for the weekend during the official roll call on Thursday at 1 p.m.
Friday will be the interview day. Each contestant will have a personal interview with the five judges.
This is a big part of the competition, because the title of Miss Illinois County Fair is a job.
The new queen will be an employee of the state of Illinois for the year.
She will be the hostess of both state fairs and travel throughout the entire state to other county fairs, and she will speak to the Illinois House of Representatives and Senate.
The preliminary competition is held on Saturday. Each contestant will compete in stage presence, beauty and physique,  and speech and communication skills.
Protz will be competing in the evening group, which begins at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Finals will be held on Sunday, Jan. 22.
The evening will begin with a banquet and the production number, followed by introductions of all 72 contestants.
The top 15 finalists will be announced. This is reserved seating only.
The top 15 finalists' slate will be wiped clean, and they will be interviewed again by the judges then compete in all phases of competition again and answer three on-stage interview questions.
Miss Illinois County Fair Queen 2017 will be crowned following this competition.
A reception will follow coronation.
Anyone who would like to send Brandy a card wishing her “good luck” may send it to 1303 N. Seventh St., Vandalia, Ill. 62471.
