Beginning digital photography class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a beginning digital photography class at the Vandalia Campus on Monday and Wednesday, January 23 and 25, from 6-8 p.m.

Get to know your digital camera and learn to take superior images. You will learn techniques to improve your action, portrait, scenic, travel, outdoor, and wildlife portraits. Take your digital camera.

Beginning beekeeping class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will hold a beginning beekeeping class throughout the KC District in January. The course will be live at the KC Vandalia Campus and shown simultaneously at the Greenville, Nashville, Salem and Trenton Education Centers.
This class will meet on Wednesday, Jan. 23, from 6-9 p.m. and will be an introductory course designed to acquaint the students with basic beekeeping. It will provide information on how to enter this hobby and eventually develop it into a satisfying and possibly profitable endeavor. Students will be given a brief history and overview of the subject, along with the equipment and management practices necessary to be successful.
The cost is $20.

Computer basics with Excel class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a computer basics with Excel class at the KC Vandalia Campus on Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 1-4 p.m.

Students will have hands-on learning with Microsoft Word and Excel.
Students will continue to build Word skills, while learning basics of Excel, which include imputing data into cells, formatting cells, using simple formulas to calculate addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Types of documents in Excel include spreadsheets for budgeting and inventory, and mass mailings.
The cost is $15.

Computer basics with Microsoft Word class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a computer basics with Microsoft Word class at the KC Vandalia Campus on Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 1-4 p.m.

Students will have hands-on learning starting with Microsoft Word and discussions will include the Ribbon, which contains tabs and commands. Students will learn how to type documents, including letters; format pages; insert pictures and objects; and use spell check.
The cost is $15.

Zentangle class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will present a Zentangle class at the KC Vandalia Campus on Tuesdays, Jan. 17 and 24, from 6-8 p.m.

Looking for a way to unwind from stress, focus your thoughts, or explore your creative side? In this class, you will learn the creative and relaxing process of the Zentangle art form. By using easy to learn repetitive patterns and deliberate pen strokes, you will create an abstract piece of art while entering into a relaxed and focused meditative state. No previous experience required.
The cost is $20. A high-quality supply kit containing all the necessary art materials will be provided by the instructor for an additional fee.

Certified nurse assistant course
The Kaskaskia College Vandalia Campus will be offering a certified nurse sssistant (NAST 160) course this spring, starting Jan. 24.
The class will be held Tuesday and Thursdays, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Jan. 24-May 12. The clinical time and dates may be different than classes.
The course is a seven credit hour class that includes classroom and laboratory experiences. Units of instruction include: Introduction to the health care system and the health care team, basic anatomy and physiology, abbreviations and common medical terminology, legal/ethical and spiritual aspects of care, growth and development, the patient and his/her environment, vital signs, aseptic, techniques, bathing, feeding, nutrition, body mechanics, moving and transporting residents/patients.
It will also include habilitation and rehabilitation, admission and discharge, collecting specimens, special procedures, observation, reporting and recording, death and dying, home care needs, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The course has been designed to enable the student to differentiate between the normal aging process and cognitive dysfunctional disease processes.
The student will be introduced to the appropriate care and treatment modalities for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and Related Dementia’s.
The course is approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Prerequisite for the class is an ACT Reading score 16 or above or COMPASS Reading score of 68 or above or ASSET Reading score of 37 or above.

Computer basics-part I class
The Kaskaskia College Department of Industrial and Continuing Education will offer a computer basics-part I class at the KC Vandalia Campus on Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 1-4 p.m.
The registration number for the class COED 7020 VA01D.
This class includes hands-on learning for the novice computer user.  A little computer history of fun facts will be discussed, along with learning the components and parts of a computer, with an emphasis on learning how a computer works.
The cost is $15.
