? Evans Public Library in Vandalia will hold a Fantastic Friday at 4 p.m. Children up to age 10 are invited to listen to stories and decorate cupcakes. Registration is required; to register, call the library, 283-2824.
? The annual chili supper and Spirit Night is being held at St. Elmo High School. The chili supper is from 5-6:30 p.m., and the cost is $6 per person. Spirit Night begins at 7 p.m. in the SEHS gym; admission is $1 or one canned food item. The evening is sponsored by the St. Elmo/Brownstown cheerleaders.
Saturday, November 19
? A benefit for Jody Blackwell, who sustained injuries in a motorcycle accident that prevent her from working, will be held at the American Legion Home, 321 S. Seventh St., Vandalia, beginning at 4 p.m. It includes a quarter auction at 5:30 p.m., followed by a live auction, as well as vendors, food, music by a DJ, gun raffles and a 50/50 drawing.
? The village of Brownstown is holding a "Decorate the Christmas Tree Party” at the village hall, 114 E. Main St. Hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Local churches will be singing Christmas carols. Brownstown Elementary School students will be hanging ornaments on the tree, and Santa will be there to light the tree. Area residents are invited to attend. Bumblebee Rose will stay open until 8 p.m. for the convenience of shoppers.

? St. Peter's Lutheran Church and School will hold their annual turkey supper in the school gym, with serving beginning at 5 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children, with children under age 3 free. Carry-outs will be available.
Monday, November 21
? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from noon-5 p.m. at Mulberry Grove High School.
? Fayette County Mothers of Preschoolers meets at 6:30 p.m. in the back room of the St. Elmo Public Library. Mothers of children ages newborn to kindergarten-age are invited. Snacks and child care is provided.
? The Women of the Moose meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
