? Evans Public Library's Homeschool Group meets from 1-2 p.m. Anyone interested in joining the group should contact Shawna Sprague at the library, 283-2824.
? The Vandalia Park District Board of Commissioners meets at 4:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Okaw Area Vocational Center on the Vandalia Community High School campus.
? CenterPointe Church, located at 1616 Veterans Ave. in Vandalia, is holding free Weekly Fit Club sessions at 6 p.m. every Thursday.
? TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20 p.m. and the meeting is at 7 p.m.
? The Fayette County Cancer Fund is meeting at 7 p.m. in the Fayette County Hospital and Long Term Care conference room. The public is invited to the meeting. The meeting will include a discussion on the Celebration in the Park planned for Sept. 24, the survivor dinner and other items. All county residents are invited to be a part of the work done by this group.

Friday, September 9

? Ramsey's community-wide garage sales are being held Friday and Saturday.
? The Vandalia Moose Lodge is holding its monthly chicken and fish dinner. Open to the public, the cost is $8 per person.
? Bingo will be held at the Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 Home. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and bingo begins at 7 p.m. The kitchen will be open.
? A Nar-Anon meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia.

Saturday, September 10

? Ramsey's community-wide garage sales continue.
? The sixth annual J.O.R.D.A.N. (Join Our Rage Donate Against Neurofibromatosis) is being held from noon-6 p.m. at Gatch Lake (U.S. Route 51 south of Vandalia and watch for signs). The event includes kids' games, bounce houses, facepainting, silent and live auctions, bake sale, gun raffles, cow patty bingo, and food and drinks. All proceeds are donated to the St. Louis Children's Hospital Foundation/Washington University NF Center.
? The eighth annual International Model A Day is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Fred B. Johnson Park, 200 S. Spruce St., Nokomis. There is no admission or entry fee for the display of Ford Model A's.
? Fayette County Home and Community Education is holding a free ovarian cancer awareness program from 1-2:30 p.m. in the old conference room at Fayette County Hospital. Free refreshments and literature will be available.
? Crown Point Church, located seven miles south of Vandalia on Carlyle Road, is holding its annual picnic. Open to the public, it includes a free meal from 5-7 p.m. consisting of fish, hamburgers, porkburgers, hot dogs, slaw, dessert and drinks. Games and prizes will be available for children.

Sunday, September 11

? The public is invited to the Community Prayer Service being held by the Vandalia Ministerial Alliance at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Crown Point Church, located seven miles south of Vandalia on Carlyle Road.
The service is open to all denominations.

Monday, September 12

? The Fayette County Fair Board will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds in Brownstown.
? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at Ponderosa Steakhouse. The executive board meets at 5:15 p.m., the meal is at 6 p.m. and the regular club meeting is at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, September 13

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive from noon-6 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The Fayette County Board meets at 7 p.m. in the large courtroom at the Fayette County Courthouse.
? The Evans Public Library District Board of Trustees meets at 7:30 p.m. at the library.

Wednesday, September 14

? Bingo returns at the Vandalia Moose Lodge, starting at 7 p.m., with Lightning at 5:30 p.m.

? Brownstown VFW Post 9770 is holding its annual Nine-Mile Gut Check, a walk/run starting at 8 a.m. at the American Legion Home in Vandalia and ending at the Brownstown VFW Post Home.
? The Fayette County Democrat Central Committee is holding its free chicken dinner at 6 p.m. at the American Legion Home in Vandalia. The public is invited, and the events includes speeches by local Democratic candidates.
