Museum’s new Season of Events schedule announced

The Fayette County Museum has announced the 2016-17 Season of Events in Wesley Hall at First United Melodist Church, located at Madison and Fourth streets in Vandalia.
At 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, Stan Seevers of Argenta will present a very popular program, “Stan’s What’s It’s.”
Severs will bring a variety of tools from his extensive collection of tools used in farms and homes in the past. After those present pass around the tools and try to identify each, Seevers will announce what each was used for.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 6, Barbara Kay of Glen Carbon will present “Annie Oakley.”
Kay, a retired history teacher, gives presentations of many historical women, and this is one of her popular presentations, which will remind those present of the old west.
The third event, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, is when Kevin Keagy of Greenville will present “The Lincoln Boys.” Kaegy is a Lincoln historian and an avid storyteller.
Abraham Lincoln was a loving father, but not much of a disciplinarian. Kevin will share some activities and episodes of the four active Lincoln boys growing up in the mid-1800s.
Funds raised from these events are used for restoration of the Fayette County Museum building.
Tickets are available at the museum and from board members. The museum is located at 301 W. Main St. in Vandalia. The phone number is 283-4866..
A season ticket, for all three events, is $30. The single-event tickets are $13 in advance or $15 if purchased at the door. Children’s tickets are half price.
