The Fullerton Arboretum on the California State Fullerton campus was the location of the wedding uniting Bethany Hope JoAlice Barnes of Monrovia, Calif., and Josiah Westey Coloma of Claremont, Calif., on Sept. 19, 2015.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Javonda (Harner) Barnes of St. Louis, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Jennie Alice Harner and the late Joseph Harner of Brownstown and Mrs. Dorothy Barnes and the late John Barnes of Patoka.
The groom’s parents are Becca Viola of Rancho Cordova, Calif., and Roy Coloma of Sacramento, Calif.
The bride chose her sister Rachel (Barnes) Peddie of Ladera Ranch, Calif., and Taylor Larsen of St. Louis, Mo., as her co-maids of honor.
Her other attendants were: Kelly Burleson of Phoenix, Ariz.; Ashley Outman, St. Louis, Mo.; the groom’s sister, Anna Coloma of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; Andraea Fernandez of Las Vegas, Nev.; Bethany Slomka of San Diego, Calif.; Mary Kay Brandt of St. Louis, Mo.; and two bridesmen, Omari McNeill of Monrovia, Calif.; and Michael Johnson, Pasadena, Calif.
The bride’s niece and nephew, Hudson Grace and Brewer John Peddie, served as the flower girl and ring bearer.
The bride’s college friend, Hosanna Johnson, a spoken-Word artist, officiated the ceremony, which included personally written vows as well as traditional vows, and the couple sharing Communion. The bride’s brother-in-law, David Peddie, read scripture.
The groom chose Danny Baladi of Sacramento, Calif., as his best man.
Groomsmen were: Jake Adkins, San Jose, Calif.; J.K. Barnes of St. Louis, Mo.; and Brian Schiller, Brian Dodson and Joel Fowler, all of Monrovia, Calif.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres in the arboretum as the wedding party took photos. The evening festivities began with a welcome and prayer by the bride’s father, Gary Barnes. Guests enjoyed a meal, music and fireworks during the evening.
The bride graduated from Oakville Senior High School in St. Louis, Mo., and she and Josiah are graduates of Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif.
After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, the couple is at home in Claremont, Calif., where Josiah is employed by Future Energy Savers in Rancho Cucamonga and Bethany works for the city of Claremont.
