Tools for School work under way

Tools for School, a program for only Fayette County in-need students to select free school supplies, is beginning its work for 2016.
Step one of the program is to receive donations from individuals, churches, businesses, clubs and others. Gifts of money enable the purchase of exactly what the teachers indicated their students need. Groups or individuals who wish to donate supplies are asked to contact the church to see what is needed.
Last year, more than 600 school children, pre-kindergarten through junior college, from Brownstown, Farina, Ramsey, St. Elmo, St. Peter and Vandalia, were served by the Tools for School program.
Monetary donations received from businesses, churches, organizations and individuals are used to purchase notebooks, paper, pens, crayons and other supplies noted on the Fayette County School supply lists.
Checks can be made payable to: Tools for School and mailed to: First Presbyterian Church, 1221 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia, Ill. 62471.
To assist when supplies are distributed, Aug. 10-13, call the church office, 283-0937, to schedule times.
This charitable program is directed by the Vandalia Presbyterian Church Mission Committee. Call the church office at 283-0937 for more information.
