VCHS boys track teams takes home five first place finishes from SCC meet

The VCHS boy’s track team began their journey towards state at the South Central Conference meet in Litchfield Tuesday evening.

Cutis Gordon and Ethan Meyer held up their end of the bargain, with Gordon taking first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.96 seconds and pole vault with a height of 14 feet; while Meyer took first in triple jump at 41 feet, 9.75 inches.

The 4×200-meter relay team consisting of Bobby Bradley, Trevor Smalls, Ethan Ferguson and Blake Barth rounded out the first-place finishes with a time of 1:36.77.

Other top performances came from Blake Barth in the 300-meter hurdles, completing it in 46.19 seconds to finish third; the 4×200-meter relay team (consisting of Bradley, Smalls, Barth and Meyer) finishing in 45.55 seconds to finish third.

Overall, Vandalia finished fifth overall with 61 points as a team. They will resume action at IHSA sectionals next Thursday in Newton.
