Ramsey park opens Tuesday

Less than two weeks after it was closed due to the state’s failure to pay outstanding bills, Ramsey Lake State Park is open once again.
Various media agencies were reporting on Tuesday that the park would reopen on Wednesday because an anonymous donor had paid the overdue bills at the Ramsey park, Horseshoe Lake State Park and Carlyle Lake.
An Illinois Deparment of Natural Resources spokesperson confirmed the reopening of the park, telling The Leader-Union that the park actually opened on Tuesday.
Bob Romanik, a radio host and state representative in the Belleville area, told the Belleville News-Democrat that he had paid the bills in honor of his son, who died last September, not as a political gesture.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced on April 20 that Ramsey Lake State Park was closed due to the termination of electrical services.
