Vandalia Softball
The Lady Vandals dropped to 1-9 overall and 0-2 in South Central Conference play Friday evening, as they fell to Pana, 10-3.
A three-run second and five-run fourth inning helped the Lady Panthers pull away for the comfortable win. Kaitlyn Mills took the loss for Vandalia, despite allowing just four earned runs, with the other six scoring due to errors.

South Central Softball
The Lady Cougars improved to 3-4 Thursday, with their first conference win of the season over Dieterich, 17-2. The South Central offense erupted for 22 hits, with Lexie Reid leading the way, going a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with two RBI’s and three runs scored.
Abby King picked up the win, tossing a complete game for one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out an impressive 13.

South Central Baseball
The South Central baseball team fell to 3-2 Friday evening, as Carlyle defeated them, 9-3.  Gavin Ratermann led the way from the plate, collecting a team-high two RBI’s. Trent Geiler took the loss, allowing eight runs, four earned, on three hits and five walks while striking out four over six innings of work.

South Central split a pair of 10-0 games this weekend at Benton, as they fell to the hosts and defeated Johnston City in the pair of lopsided games.
Against Benton, the Cougars only managed two hits, while they allowed 13 for five earned runs.
The Cougars rebounded against Johnston City, as Ratermann tossed a five-inning no-hitter for the 10-0 win. Ryan Matheny knocked in a team-high two runs with a pair of doubles, while Ratermann, Markley and McCown all picked up RBI’s.

The Cougars improved to 5-3 Tuesday evening, shutting out Greenville, 3-0. Geiler picked up the win, tossing a complete-game shutout, allowing no runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four.
Markley and Geiler each picked up an RBI to help lead the way from the plate.

Vandalia Baseball

Vandalia fell to 7-6 Tuesday evening, as they fell to Altamont, 9-3. Kelly Jones led the way at the plate with three hits, while Richie Well and Nathan Casey collected RBI’s.
