? Soroptimist International of Vandalia meets at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? CenterPointe Church, located at 1616 Veterans Ave. in Vandalia, is holding free Weekly Fit Club sessions at 6 p.m. every Thursday.
? TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20 p.m. and the meeting is at 7 p.m.
? A NAR-ANON meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia. The group meets to: learn that drug abuse is an illness; encourage addicts to seek help; replace despair with hope; improve the family attitude; help individuals regain self-confidence.
Friday, Oct. 16

? Evans Public Library will hold a Fantastic Friday at 4 p.m. Children up to age 10 are invited to listen to stories and decorate a pumpkin. Registration is required; to register, contact the library, 283-2824.
? The Vandalia Band Boosters will hold their annual chili supper from 4:30-7 p.m. at Vandalia Junior High School. Tickets are $6 for a choice of chili or vegetable soup, sandwich, dessert and drink; or two hot dogs, dessert and drink. For an additional $1, attendees may have unlimited chili. The  supper benefits the junior high and high school band.
? Crawford-Hale American Legion Post 95 in Vandalia will hold bingo at the Legion Home, 321 S. Seventh St. Doors open at 5 p.m., and bingo begins at 7 p.m.
? As part of the celebration of its 150th anniversary, St. James Lutheran Church, 727 W. Gallatin St. in Vandalia, will host "An Evening of Music with Stephanie and Carlo Van Ulft" on piano and organ. The concert is free and open to the public, and a reception will follow.
? "Hospital of Horrors," a haunted house created by the Vandalia Swimming Pool staff, will be open from 7-11 p.m. at the former Washington School on South Eighth Street. The cost is $6, and the proceeds will go to the Vandalia Swimming Pool renovations.

Saturday, Oct. 17

? St. James Lutheran Church in Vandalia will continue to celebrate its 150th anniversary. Tours of Fayette County Museum will be available; if interested, call Dorothy Donley at 283-1916. A catered banquet will be held at the American Legion Home; a social hour is at 6 p.m., and dinner is at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15, paid in advance; to make reservations, call Kathy Schaal at 267-4873.

Sunday, Oct. 18

? St. James Lutheran Church, 727 W. Gallatin St. in Vandalia, will hold a special worship service at 10 a.m. as part of its 150th anniversary celebration, with Bishop John Roth presiding. A light luncheon will be held after the service.

Monday, Oct. 19

? Northside Christian Church, located at 1845 W. Jackson St. in Vandalia, is offering "Clubhouse," a homework assistance program, from 3-5:15 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
? The Vandalia Lions Club meets at America's Best Value Inn. The executive board meets at 5:15 p.m., and the meal and regular meeting are at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, October 20

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Vandalia Board of Education meets at 5 p.m. at the district's administration center.
? Rainbow Reflections, a local grief support group, will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia. Those planning to attend the meeting are asked to contact Mary Miller at 292-5366.

Wednesday, Oct. 21

? An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 2-7 p.m. at Brownstown High School.
? The Vandalia Eagles Aerie and Auxiliary meet at 7:30 p.m. at the Eagles Club.
