Pedestrian fatally injured in crash early Monday

A Mulberry Grove woman was killed when struck by a vehicle as she walked along U.S. Route 40 near St. Elmo early Monday morning.
According to the Illinois State Police, Crystal L. Snider, 32, was walking along Route 40 about two miles west of St. Elmo shortly after midnight when she was hit by a 2002 Buick Rendezvous driven by Arik Warner, 30, of Brownstown.
Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen, who pronounced Snider dead at the scene at 1:12 a.m., said that Snider was walking with a friend when the crash occurred.
Bowen and the state police are continuing to investigate the crash, and the ISP said that charges are pending.
