Engineers: Buildings need to come down

The second opinion is the same as the first – three buildings at Vandalia's main downtown interection need to be demolished.

Vandalia officials received on Thursday a written report in which structural engineers Dave Clark and Mike Vandergast gave the findings of their inspection of buildings at 501, 503 and 507 W. Gallatin Street on Monday.

The engineers with ESI Consultants LTD. in Charleston said that the buildings should "be demolished as safely and expeditiously as possible."
