? Tools for School for in-need students in Fayette County communities is open from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1221 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia. Students must accompany adults in order to receive school supplies. Enter through the north door of the church.
? Fayette County Home and Community Education is sponsoring a free program on human trafficking from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia. It will feature three speakers. Refreshments will be available and attendees will receive free awareness ribbons.
? The Vandalia Park District Board meets at 4:30 p.m. in the Lincoln Room at Evans Public Library in Vandalia.
? CenterPointe Church, located at 1616 Veterans Ave. in Vandalia, is holding free Weekly Fit Club sessions at 6 p.m. every Thursday.
? TOPS IL 1872, Ramsey, will meet at the Christian Church in Ramsey. Weigh-in is at 6:20 p.m., and the meeting is at 7 p.m.
? A NAR-ANON meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at Northside Christian Church, 1845 W. Jackson St., Vandalia. The group meets to: learn that drug abuse is an illness; encourage addicts to seek help; replace despair with hope; improve the family attitude; help individuals regain self-confidence.

? The final Moonlight Madness of the season will be held from 6-11:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Municipal Swimming Pool. Admission is $6 per person, with children ages 4 and under admitted free.
? The Tri-County Beekeepers Association will meet at 7 p.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1540 E. State Route 140, Greenville. Topics of discussion will include extracting honey and honey progress for beekeepers, treating for mites and small-hive beetles.

Saturday, August 15

? Tools for School for in-need students in Fayette County communities is open from 9 a.m.-noon at First Presbyterian Church, 1221 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia. Students must accompany adults in order to receive school supplies. Enter through the north door of the church.
? The 15th annual IFOR (Illinois Federation of Outdoor Resources) membership drive and cookout, which is open to the public, will be held at Gatch Lake/St. Peter Sportsman's Club. It will include a variety of free food from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; children's crafts and activities, candy canon and kiddie pool; multi-gun raffle, silent auction, 50/50 drawing and a grand prize of a 64-gun safe with mystery gun. A traph shoot is from 8:30-11 a.m., and a horseshoe tournament starts at 10 a.m., with registration beginning at 9 a.m.
? First National Bank in Vandalia, Ramsey, Patoka, Mulberry Grove and Greenville will hold a 150th anniversary celebration open to the public from 4-8 p.m. at Rogier Park on West Fillmore Street in Vandalia. The event includes: free food, including pulled pork sandwiches; prize drawings, face-painting; a roper maker; and a bounce house and inflatable obstacle course. Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman will ready a proclamation recognizing the bank's sesquicentennial celebration.

Sunday, August 16

? Family Day is being held at Vandalia Municipal Swimming Pool. Families with up to eight individuals will be admitted for $10, with a charge of $2 per person for each one over eight. The pool hours are 1-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Monday, August 17

? The Soil and Water Conservation Districts in Effingham and Fayette counties, along with the Council for Best Management Practices, are holding a Cover Crop for Beginners meeting at the Carriage House Event Center in Altamont. Registration is at 8:30 and the meeting starts at 9 a.m., with lunch to follow. Speakers will be addressing: choosing the right cover crop; timing of planting and terminating; and the effect of cover crops on soil health. The meeting will also include a panel of local farmers with experience using cover crops. To register for the meeting, call 283-1095, ext. 3 or 1-217-347-7107, ext. 3.
? The Women of the Moose meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The VFW Auxiliary meets at 7 p.m. at the VFW Home on West St. Louis Avenue in Vandalia.

Tuesday, August 18

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Vandalia Board of Education meets at 5 p.m. at the district's administration center.
? The annual meeting of the Mid-Kaskaskia River Basin Coalition will be held at 7 p.m. in the basement of the Fayette County Farm Bureau building on Sunset Drive in Vandalia. A potluck will be held at 6 p.m. with meeting and drinks to be furnished; those attending are asked to take covered dishes.
