4th of July in the area

Area communities will celebrate the Fourth of July with fireworks and other festivities
The Vandalia Lions Club is again hosting a three-day carnival at the Vandalia Lake marina campgrounds.
The carnival is open from 6-10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 4-10 p.m. on Saturday.
The Lions Club will provide its annual fireworks display over Vandalia Lake at dusk on Friday night.
The village of Farina will hold its 60th annual Fourth of July Celebration on Saturday at the Farina Village Park.
The celebration gets under way with registration for a 5K run at 7 a.m. and the run at 8 a.m.
Food stands in park open at noon, registration for the annual parade begins at 2 p.m., and the parade is at 3 p.m.
Inflatables and kid’s games open at 4 p.m., and a karate demonstration is from 4-5 p.m.
A beer garden opens at 4 p.m., and bingo and a cake walk start at 5 p.m.
American Legion Post No. 411 will provide opening ceremonies at 5:15 p.m., and live music begins at 5:30 p.m. “Independent Silver Band” performs from 5:30-6:45 p.m., and “Sojourn Rocs” will perform from 7-9 p.m. and from 9:45-11 p.m.
The annual raffle drawing is at 9 p.m., and the village fireworks are set to start at 9:15 p.m.
The Fayette County Speedway will provide a fireworks display during intermission of the Summer Nationals on Friday evening.
