Vandalia School District, teachers OK new agreement

The Vandalia School District Board of Education and Vandalia Unit Teachers Association on Wednesday agreed to a new, three-year contract.

The contract includes adding 1 percent to the base salary and using the current salary schedule for each of the three years.

Among the items in language that were changed are:

A) $25 per month increase for those taking district health insurance for the current school

year only; no new monies will be added to the insurance component for the 2016-17 or

2017-18 school years.

B)clarification of dally work hours

C) clarification on grade levels for each building.

In a press release issued by Jason Clay, VUTA president; Sha Tedrick VUTA negotiations committee chairman; Superintendent Rich Well; and school board President Chris Palmer, the two parties issued the following statement:

The Board of Education and the VUTA have agreed to this contract in

consideration of the district financial situation
