The Fayette County Soil & Water Conservation District has offered an electronic recycling service for the past few years. In the past few weeks, however, we have heard from a few people that didn't even know we has been doing this, so we thought it might be a good idea to spread the word once again. So, just in case you are one of the few that didn't know about the free service that is being provided, here is the information that could help you get rid of some of your household clutter. As most of you are aware, you are no longer able to toss electronics in the garbage, which is why the trash collectors continue to leave it when you put it out to be picked up.
During the week of Vandalia Clean Up we will allow residents to drop electronics Monday thru Friday from 8:00 – 5:00. After that we will return to our normal hours of every Wednesday (except holidays, of course) from 1:00 – 5:00. All you have to do is bring them down to the trailer at the USDA Building parking lot at 301 S Third St..and unload them. All we ask in return is that you don't leave it on the parking lot when the trailer is not open. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE –DO NOT ABUSE IT. Please know that anything that is in the trailer is never to be taken out of the trailer. I have included a short summary list of items that we take, but, of course, there are tons more items that could be included. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Karen at 618-283-1095 ext. 3
