Friday, May 1

? Evans Public Library's Teen Advisory Board meets at 4 p.m. at the library. Teens interested in joining the TAB may contact Shawna Sprague at the library, 283-2824.

Saturday, May 2

? Call-in day for Little Miss and Junior Miss Fayette County pageants – Parents of Little Miss contestants (ages 5-7) may begin calling at 9 a.m. and Junior Miss contestants (entering grades 6-8) may begin calling at 10 a.m. The number to call is 427-3762. The first 20 callers will be accepted in each division. Contestants for Miss Fayette County (ages 16-21) are being accepted through June 9.
? The Beecher City Tri-County Ruritan Club is holding the Beecher City Community Garage Sales. beginning at 8 a.m. There will be sales all over town, in the park and at the firehouse. A porkburger cookout is being held at BC Foodliner.
? First Presbyterian Church in Vandalia, located at 1221 W. Fillmore St., is hosting a Ladies' Tea, beginning at 1 p.m. Reservations should be made by this Thursday by calling 283-0937.
? Summer Breeze Wine House in St. James will host its annual Kentucky Derby-themed fundraiser for the St. Elmo Historical Society at 2 p.m.

Sunday, May 3

? The Shoal Creek Chapter of ABATE will meet at 1 p.m. at the Greenville VFW Home.
? Fayette County Health Department Hopice will hold its annual Community Memorial Service at 2 p.m. at First Church of God, 3001 Thrill Hill Road, Vandalia. It will include a slide presentation, special music, candle lighting, and a message and balloon release, with cookie and punch reception to follow.

Monday, May 4

? Illinois State Police certified child passenger safety technicians will inpsect and assist with the proper installation of child safety seats from 8 a.m.-noon at CEFS Head Start, 1902 Progress West Drive in Vandalia.
? The Retired Telephone Operators luncheon will be held at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse in Vandalia. All operators and linemen are invited to attend, and they may take guests. Visiting will start at 11:30 a.m.
? The "We Choose Health" Community Walk will continue to be held at Brownstown Elementary on Mondays when school is in session. Anyone who walks at least 20 minutes between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. may register to win monthly prizes of Subway Sandwiches.  In May, a drawing will be held for two adult bicycles. The Brownstown Elementary Gym will be used during inclement weather.  Donations to walk are not required, but any donations in March and April are designated for the Brownstown EMS-First Responders.
? The Women of the Moose meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.

Tuesday, May 5

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary meets at noon in the FCH conference room. Members are urged to attend.
? Rainbow Reflections, a grief support group, meets from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Mary Miller at 292-5366.

Wednesday, May 6

? Evans Public Library will hold a story time at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are invited.
? The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce meets at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse. A luncheon is followed by a business meeting and program.

? SAFE (Sexual Assault and Family Emergencies) will hold cosmic bingo at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $25 in advance or $30 at the door; admission includes six bingo cards, cosmic dabber and cosmic hat, with additional cards available for $5. To make reservations, contact Sherry Hawkins at SAFE, 283-1414.

? The annual Pilcher Cemetery cleanup day begins at 9 a.m.
