Vandalia Performing Arts Center dance team members competed at the Platinum National Dance Competition on March 22. The competition dance team, made up of Gracie Craig, Briley Depew, Makenzie Emerick, Madi Jackson, Kyleigh Roman, Reagan Smith and Isabel Warner, and performing to "The Party Girls," finished in first place overall for their age group with a platinum level score, and received special judges awards and a choreography award. The senior dance team, made up of Reyna Arenas, Haley Bigelow, Mindy Ritchey, Delaney Schulze and Lexie Stuckwisch, dancing to "Uptown Girl" also received first place overall for their age group, as well as a platinum level score, a judges' award, and a choreography award. In the duet and trio competition, Makenzie Emerick, Kiki Givens and Kyleigh Roman took first place in the 8 and under division. Briley Depew and Madi Jackson won first in the 9-10-year-old division and Reyna Arenas and Sarah Craig won first in the teen division. Haley Bigelow and Mindy Ritchey received a judges' choice award in the senior division, and the other duets and trios also received several judges' awards for their performances. In the solo competition, Makenzie Emerick and Kiki Givens each received a first place finish within their dance style categories. Makenzie Emerick and Delaney Schulze each won first in her age division when all dance styles were combined. Makenzie also received the top score of the competition when all ages, styles, solos and groups were combined. Other solo competitiors included Reagan Smith with a second place overall, Kiki Givens with a fifth place overall, Gracie Craig and Kyleigh Roman.
