To celebrate National Kick Butts Day, Stacia Braun at Vandalia Elementary Teacher took her fourth grade-class to Rogier Park on Monday.
The students were given a brief lesson on the dangers of tobacco and cigarette butt litter by Kelly Curll (health educator and tobacco coordinator at the Fayette County Health Department). Then, the students cleaned up the park by picking up cigarette butts. Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco. Look for their container of butts and important message around town. Vandalia businesses will be taking turns displaying their work.
