Golden Circle Menus

Golden Circle Nutrition Program, located at 616 W. Jackson St. in Vandalia, provides meals in a comfortable setting to people 60 years and older and their spouses. There are no income guidelines or any type of restrictions besides the age limit.
Meals are prepared by Deb’s Catering of Altamont and delivered fresh daily. The suggested donation is $2.60 for meals. Call site director, Sharon Harris
 at 283-1040 between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. the day before you wish to eat there. Meals are served at 11:30 a.m., Monday-Friday. All meals served with choice of milk, coffee, iced tea and water
There will also be at least one activity weekly, such as movies, seniors exercise class, bingo, holiday parties, games, music and crafts. On March 24, the activity will be bingo. There will also be a monthly drawing for a door prize, with individuals earns tickets for every meal they eat at the center and every activity they participate in.
Next Wednesday is Mayors for Meals Day, and Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman will be delivering meals that day.
Menu for March 23-27
• Monday-Biscuits and gravy, sausage pattie, hash brown casserole, banana and orange juice.
• Tuesday-Spaghetti with meat sauce, tossed salad with tomatoes, three-bean salad, strawberries and garlic breadstick.
• Wednesday-Corn and potato chowder, crackers, half a ham salad sandwich on whole grain bread and cole slaw.
• Thursday-Roast beef, mashed potatoes, butter beans, apricots and peanut butter cookie.
• Friday-Salmon pattie, creamy potatoes, carrots, pineapple chunks and whole grain bread.
