Friday, Jan. 30

? Evans Public Library will hold Fantastic Friday at 4 p.m. Children up to age 10 are invited to listen to snow stories and make their own snow globes. Registration is required; to register, call 283-2824.
? Vandalia Christian Academy will hold a trivia night and auction at First Baptist Church. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the event begins at 6:30 p.m. Teams of six to eight people are invited to participate. The cost is $12 per person. Monday, Feb. 2

? The Women of the Moose will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
 
Tuesday, Feb. 3

? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary meets at noon in the FCH conference room. All members are urged to attend.
? The Grandparents/Relatives Raising Children support group meets from 1-2 p.m. at Evans Public Library in Vandalia. The support group meets monthly and provides support, education and access to additional resources, including financial assistance. ? A Caregiver Connection seminar, "Coping with Stress and Anxiety," will be held from 3-4 p.m. in the conference room at Brookstone Estates, 1607 W. Fillmore St., Vandalia. ? The Vandalia Chamber of Commerce meets at noon in the Lincoln Room at Ponderosa Steakhouse. A noon luncheon is followed by a business meeting and a program. The guest speaker will be a representative of Pinnacle Foods in St. Elmo.
? Evans Public Library will hold a story time at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are invited.

Saturday, Feb. 7

? A benefit for retired Brownstown fire chief Phil Wells will be held from 4-8 p.m. at Brownstown Elementary School. It will include a meal, with the cost being $5 per person for chili or vegetable soup, peanut butter sandwich and crackers, or hot dogs and chips; desserts and drinks will be served. Also planned are a silent auction, 50/50 drawing and raffle. Tickets are $10 each for the raffle for a .22LR Magnum Henry Golden Boy Firefighter Edition.
? The Lincoln Victory Ball, sponsored by the Vandalia Tourism Commission, will be held from 7-10 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge. There is no admission charge for those dressed in period clothing; for others, it is $5 per person. Music will be provided by Salt Creek Band, and there will be a dance caller. The evening will include homemade desserts by Home and Community Education members and drinks, and door prizes provided by Vandalia Chamber of Commerce members.

Sunday, Feb. 8

? The Vandalia Historical Society will hold its annual Lincoln's Birthday program at 2 p.m. in the House of Representatives chambers of the Vandalia Statehouse, with audio of the program provided in the first-floor Supreme Court Room. Kevin Kaegy of Greenville will speak on Ann Rutledge.
