Jared and Kelly Washburn have purchased the realty business owned by Keith and Kathy Schaal, and have combined Schaal and Associates with their business, Fayette County Real Estate.
The purchase of the Schaals’ business was finalized on Friday, and the merger means that the agent with Schaal and Associates, including Keith Schaal, are now affiliated with Fayette County Real Estate.
“We were ready to expand,” said Kelly Washburn, managing broker of the real estate firm. “We were waiting for the right time and place, and this opportunity (to purchase Schaal and Associates) presented itself.”
Washburn has been in the real estate business since 2003, when she joined the staff of Fayette County Real Estate, which at the time was owned by Denise Chatham.
She obtained her broker’s license in 2010, and purchased FCRE from Chatham in 2011.
In addition to Keith Schaal, those joining Washburn, Kris Nalley and Jeremy Durbin on the staff of FCRE are Barb Buckland, Heidi Cade, Andy Lester, Gay Heard, Donna Johnson and Scott Bunyard.
Jared Washburn is in the process of obtaining a broker’s license.
All of the FCRE staff members will be working out of the FCRE home at 725 W. Fillmore St. in Vandalia.
