FCHD will offer career sessions for local youths

The Fayette County Health Department has partnered with SCI-AHEC to provide Fayette County students in grades 6-12 with the opportunity to learn about different careers from professionals in the community.
Four sessions are scheduled, and students who attend all four sessions will have their names entered into a drawing. All sessions will be held at the Fayette County Health Department, 419 E. Edwards St., Vandalia.
Each session runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and there is no charge for students to attend.
Refreshments will be provided, and students who sign up for the sessions will receive a bag and T-shirt.
Speakers will cover such topics as job duties, salaries, college requirements and experiences.
The sessions are:
• Feb. 24 – Dr. Brittni Davis, a veterinarian at Countryside Pet Clinic.
• March 24 – Stephanie Osborne, a certified registered nurse anesthetist with St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital and HSHS Medical Group.
• April 15 – Troy Payne, an attorney with LeFevre, Oldfield, Meyers, Apke and Payne Law Group.
• May 15 – Dr. Melanie Schaafsma, counselor.
