IHSA football proposal rejected
A proposal that would have eliminated conferences for high school football teams did not pass, an IHSA press release stated Tuesday.
Member schools rejected Proposal 10, which would have revamped the football regular season and playoff system.
The vote was 395-212 against the proposal.

Vandalia's Anthony Enlow competed at a youth wrestling tournament in Granite City recently, competing in the 13-14 year-old division. He went 2-1 and took second place. Enlow also competed at an event at Belleville Althoff on Sunday. He went 2-1 in the 13-14 division, taking second place.
Patoka holding fundraiser
A fundraiser for the Patoka Junior High School boys basketball program will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Patoka High School. A buffet prepared by Country Rhodes will be available for $10 for adults and for $6 for children 12 and under.
Kaskaskia College to hold softball clinic
The Kaskaskia College softball program will be hosting a pitching camp on Saturday, January 10. Players ages 9-11 can attend from 9-11 a.m. and players ages 11-19 may attend from 1-3 p.m. The camps will be conducted by KC coaches Torey Crowell and Rob Tate, and current KC players.

Kaskaskia College to hold baseball clinics
The Kaskaskia College baseball program will be holding two clinics on Saturday, Jan. 24, for players in grades 5-8. The camps will be conducted by KC coaches and players, along with former players who have been drafted and current Triple A Cardinal Pitching Coach Bryan Eversgerd. A pitching clinic will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. and will feature former Blue Devils Jay Voss and Nick Gardewine (Texas Rangers). A hitting clinic will be held from 11-12:30 p.m.

I-70 Baseball Coaches Clinic is Jan. 19
Greenville High School is hosting the I-70 Baseball Coaches Clinic on Jan. 19.
The clinic is for baseball coaches of all levels. The featured speaker is Leo Mazzone, former pitching coach of the Atlanta Braves. Other speakers include Turtle Thomas, head coach of Florida International University; Mike Pinto of the Southern Illinois Miners; and Kevin Wheeler of the St. Louis Gamers.
There are eight clinic sessions, a catered lunch, door prizes, teacher professional development hours offered, a free clinic T-shirt for first 200 coaches and there will be several vendors on site.
The cost for a single coach is $50 if pre-registered or $80 at the door. The staff rate for 4-6 coaches from same staff is $175 or $220 at the door. Players (13-22) can attend for $30.
