FAYCO incident shows that AEDs save lives

You know those fire extinguishers and automated external defibrillators that are stationed on the walls of our work places, those small tools that we think will never be put into use? Well, there may come a day when one of those will save a life, as was the case last week at a FAYCO facility.
When a FAYCO employee went down due to a heart attack last Monday, other employees sprung into action, with one beginning chest compressions. That employee called for the nurse, who, in turn, called for the AED stationed a short distance away.
That AED was used, in conjunction with cardiopulmonary resuscitation, to bring the heart attack victim back to life.
That incident should remind us to have these kinds of emergency equipment available, and that we need to complete the training necessary to use that equipment properly.
We applaud FAYCO employees Connie Hunley and Susan LaMonica for their quick thinking and response, and we hope many of us learn from their actions.
