? Happy Hollow Farms will hold its annual Fall Festival from 4-7 p.m.
? The Evans Public Library Teen Advisory Board will meet at 4 p.m. Teens interested in joining the board can contact Shawna Sprague at 283-2824.
? Crawford-Hale American Legion Post will have a chicken dinner, with serving from 5-6:30 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children under age 12.
? The Grande Levée gets under way at the Vandalia Statehouse with the annual old-fashioned ham and beans dinner at 5 p.m., music by bluegrass band "Rural Rights Revival" and stands featuring funnel cakes, homemade ice cream, soda and water.
? The Spools of Fun Quilt Club is holding a quilt show in the former Liberty Trading building, next to Vandalia City Hall, from 4-8 p.m. Admission is $3, and the show includes a quilt raffle and door prizes. Children under 10 are free, but they must be accompanied by an adult.
Saturday, October 4

? Fayette County Hospital and Long Term Care in Vandalia will hold the 2014 Health and Safety Expo from 7-11 a.m. at the hospital. The expo will include some free health tests, low-cost blood tests and a number of screenings, as well as vendor booths. ? The Grande Levée continues at the Vandalia Statehouse, with the Statehouse opening at 9:30 and period craft beginning at 10 a.m.
? The Vandalia Tourism Commission's Harvest Festival will be held along Gallatin Street. The Little Mister and Little Miss Harvest pageant will be held at 11 a.m. at Fifth and Gallatin streets. The Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department will hold an open house.

? The fourth annual Jordan fuNFest will be held from noon-6 p.m. at Gatch Lake, U.S. Route 51 south of Vandalia to St. Peter Blacktop (watch for signs). It will include kids' games, bingo, bounce houses, face-painting, silent and live auctions, gun raffles and bake sale, as well as cow patty bingo, with 250 tickets sold for a $1,000 prize.

Monday, October 6

? Brownstown Elementary School will host its first "We Choose Health" walk at the school track. Community members, staff and students may join the walk any time between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. Those walking at least 20 minutes will be eligible to sign up for Subway gift cards at the end of the month. In case of inclement weather, the walk will be in the BES gym. Donations for the Brownstown District Backpack Program will be accepted.
? The Evans Public Library Teen Book Club will meet at 4 p.m. at the library.
? The Women of the Moose meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
? The Vandalia City Council meets at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
Tuesday, October 7

? Evans Public Library will hold a story time at 10 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to attend.
? The Vandalia Rotary Club meets at noon at Ponderosa Steakhouse.
? The Fayette County Hospital Auxiliary meets at noon in the conference room at the hospital. All members are encouraged to attend.

? TOPS IL 2020 will meet in the Fayette County Hospital conference room. Weigh-in is from 5-5:30 p.m., with the meeting to follow.
? A Weight Watchers meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Vandalia; weigh-in is at 5 p.m. Visitors are welcome to attend the meeting free of charge.
? The Fayette County Genealogical and Historical Society meets at 6 p.m. at Evans Public Library in Vandalia. Jessie Blain, Evans librarian, will talk about changes being made at the library, library procedures and the amount of genealogy requests they receive. Reservations for the society's annual meeting on Nov. 4 at Good Old Days Banquet Center in Brownstown are due at this meeting.
? Rainbow Reflections, a grief support group, will meet from 6-7 p.m. in Wesley Hall at First United Methodist Church, 127 N. Fourth St., Vandalia. Those planning to attend are asked to contact Mary Miller, 292-5366.
