Powless shines in shutout win vs. Patoka

A big year is in order for South Central senior Noah Powless.
If last Wednesday’s game is any indication, it may end up being a monster year.
Powless struck out 10 in four innings and clobbered his first home run of the season as the Cougars dominated Patoka, 10-0, in six innings.
Senior Gavin Ratermann was 3-for-3 for the Cougars (2-0), ending the game with a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth – one of 12 walks drawn by South Central.
Powless got things started for South Central with a solo homer in a two-run first inning, and the Cougars scored five times in the second, before adding single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings.
Meanwhile, he cruised through the first four innings, walking none and allowing singles to Mark Herrin and Garrett Belcher.
Patoka (0-3) committed four errors in the field, and its pitchers surrendered 10 hits.
