Center Pointe Church to hold flea market

Center Pointe Church will sponsor an outdoor flea market this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the church building (the former Rural King store on Veterans Avenue in Vandalia).
There is a small fee for those wanting to set up a booth.
All proceeds from the sale will be used either for remodeling the building or for youth activities.

Steve Ladd at Liberty Christian Aug. 16

Steve Ladd will be in concert at Liberty Christian Church in rural Brownstown on Saturday, Aug. 16, at 6 p.m.
Before becoming a soloist, Ladd sang with the Anchormen and Gold City. He also has been singing with the Southern Illinois Homecoming Gospel Choir.

Cowden 'Souled-Out' retreat this weekend

A Christian youth retreat called “Souled-Out” will be held this weekend at Cowden Free Methodist Church campgrounds for young people in grades 7-12.
Guest speaker for the weekend will be Lexie Mahaffey. Providing music for the weekend will be Campus Christian House, a band from Eastern Illinois University. There is no cost to attend the retreat.
Registration begins at 4 p.m. Friday, with dinner at 5 p.m. and a worship service at 6:30 p.m. Saturday’s program includes a morning service project, afternoon recreation activities a worship service at 7 p.m. and an outdoor movie at 8:30 p.m. The retreat concludes with a Sunday morning worship service at 10:30 a.m. and a potluck meal at noon.
