Registration open for YMCA youth programs

Registration is open for a pair of youth sports programs at the Family YMCA of Fayette County.

FLAG FOOTBALL

Children in grades 2-4 may register for the flag football program at the YMCA, with games beginning in September.

The registration deadline is Aug. 19 at 5 p.m. There is no late registration.

Registration cost is $35 for members and $70 for non-members. Payment is due at the time of registration.

Included are a uniform T-shirt and a mouthpiece, which is required to be worn during all games.

A skills clinic will be held on Aug. 19, from 6-8 p.m., at Miller Field, and all participants are strongly encouraged to attend.

Games will be played on Monday and Thursday nights, with the first game scheduled on or after Sept. 8.

Teams of 10-12 youth who live outside of Vandalia may register as a team as long as they have a coach.

SOCCER

Four-year-olds and those in grades K-8 may register for the soccer program at the YMCA, with games beginning in September.

The registration deadline is Aug. 25 at 5 p.m. There is no late registration.

Registration cost is $25 for members and $50 for non-members. Payment is due at the time of registration.

Included are a uniform T-shirt. Shin guards are recommended but not required.

Teams will be broken into four ages groups: 4-year-olds-K, grades 1-2, grades 3-5 and grades 6-8. The oldest group may travel.

Skill clinics will be held at the end of August. Grades 6-8 will have a clinic on Aug. 26 and 29 from 6-7:30 p.m.

All other groups will have clinics on Aug. 25 and 28, with age 4-second grade from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and grades 3-5 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

All participants are encouraged to attend.

Games will be played every day but Wednesday and Sunday, with games beginning on or after Sept. 15.
